Problem

1) We had a problem to stop the turntable so that the cup hole would be exactly under the cup dispenser. This problem was due to the momentum of the whole turntable. When the photo reflectance sensor sensed detect the black strip on the white tube, it should send a signal to the Handy Board to stop the DC motor, which moved the turntable. Because of the huge momentum of the turntable, the DC motor experienced a resistance to stop the rotation of the turntable immediately. to solve this problem, we slowed down the DC motor and tightened the timing belt. Also, we added a small bump on the black strip on the white tube so that the photoreflectance sensor could sense it. The bump was also meant to give a resistance in reverse direction to the turntable rotation in order to counter the turntable momentum.

2) We also had a problem dropping a new cup from the cup dispenser into the cup hole. Basically, we slowed down the DC motor for the cup dispenser to push a new cup out. However, this method was not successful as this method push out more than a cup from the cup dispenser. As a solution, we created a spacer inside each new cup in the cup dispenser. By doing this, we managed to push out one cup at a time.

Suggestion

  1. Provide a rewind button for the cup dispenser.
  2. Make a button for the "manual rotate wheel" instead of using the start button on the handy board.
  3. Cover up the electronics with a casing.
  4. Put a casing around the turntable/pulley/motor assembly
