Welcome to our Mechatronics Web-report website. Here you will find all of the information you would need to understand and possilbly build your own version of our project. Also you will find tips and ideas that you can apply to any project.

Our project:

We thought long and hard before we finally decided on our project proposal. We took into account feasibility, simplicity, originality, robustness, and also limitations such as time, and money, into deciding which project idea we would choose to expand on. The outcome after a few short meetings was Mechachess, a great balance of all three aspects of our Mechatronics course, mechanical, electrical and microprocessing systems.

What it does:

Mechachess is a system that is designed to be a physical representation of a computer chess game. While it may be viewed as 'pointless' or as some people had put it 'very very lazy', this project was a good test of the knowledge we gained from class. The system would take a user's input, in this case entered through 5 buttons on the main panel, and the system would 'translate' that input into motor controls that would move the desired piece to its new location. In the specifications section we will break down each component of that process and try to describe it clearly and concisely.
