Are you tired of cleaning your fish tank yourself, changing the water, feeding the fish, turning the light on, and adding water if the water level has gotten too low? These small annoyances can ruin the fun of watching your fish glide carelessly around their aquarium. This is why Ikram Omar, Mike Worth, and Chris Yang have created the MechaTank: so all of these chores are automated and programmable.

Fish Feeder
The automated fish feeder can feed your fish as much or as little as you want, unlike available commercial fish feeders.

water level sensor
The water level sensor activates a pump to add water to the aquarium if the level is too low.

water pump
The pump also adds approximately 25% of the capacity of the tank to change the water. The excess water flows out an overflow box, which keeps the water at a certain level.

magnetic scrubber
The scrubber assembly scours the inside of the tank before each water change so that algae buildup is removed.

flourescent lamp
The fluorescent light is attached to a sensor mounted in view of daylight so that the "night" and "day" times of the tank follow those of the environment.

After initially setting up the tank, all you need to do is refill the food in the automatic feeder once in a while. This will give you more time to look at your fish instead of having to take care of its habitat.
