Overview

We decided to take on the challenge of building a scale model of a working elevator at a hotel for example.   Although it did not have doors on the elevator cage or at each floor, our elevator closely mimics a real elevator.  It can service 3 floors and is complete with an outer wall display, elevator music, a bell that dings as the elevator passes each floor, elevator location display and more.   Our elevator is also capable of handling multiple calls simultaneously.

What an Elevator needs to know

We tried to give our elevator the brain power to handle these things when we wrote our program.  Our electrical work provided the relevant information to the elevator.  Our program was the means for obtaining and processing this information and will be discussed in detail in a subsequent section.
