Problem sets, handouts, and other course information will be available here.
Homework
Homework will be assigned weekly and will be due at the beginning of
Friday class. Late homeworks will not be accepted. Solutions to the
homework will be placed on the web on the following Monday. Homeworks
will be posted to the class website, where they can be downloaded.
You are encouraged to view the homeworks as learning exercises. You may work with others during the initial phases, but the final writeups must be your own work. Copying is not allowed. If you work with others, you must clearly indicate on your writeup which other students you worked with.
Each homework counts equally toward your total homework grade. If there are 8 homeworks, your homework grade will be calculated by dividing the total of your top 7 homework scores by the total number of points of 7 homeworks. This allows you to miss one homework if necessary because of illness, interviews, etc. Homeworks must be written up carefully, clearly, and concisely, or you will receive a reduced score.
Labs
Lab will be held weekly in Tech CG50 starting the second week. You will work in
groups of two or three and your lab reports are due at the end of each three hour session.
Lab hours will be scheduled during the first week of class.
Exams
There will be two quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Any material
covered to that point may be included on an exam. All exams will be
open book, and you will also be allowed to bring up to two pages
of notes to refer to. Other books and papers are not allowed.
Grading
Homework 20%, Labs 20%, Quizzes 20%, Midterm 15%, Final 25%
